Unfortunately, while Japan is a country where there are so many lovely and friendly people (and so many of them are my students and friends), there are some nasty types as well. Racists are the scourge of nearly every country in the world, and Japan is no exception.
The latest storm is over this book, 驚愕の外人犯罪裏ファイル(Gaijin [sic] Crime Underground Files), which contains a lot of racist propaganda.
Links to some translations and pictures are here, here, here and here.
The most disturbing thing about this book is not that it was produced, since you could buy similar books through underground publishers all over the world, but that it was being sold in Family Marts all over Japan. Family Mart have since pulled every copy from the shelves since the story broke.
The war against racism is never over. It's good to see that there are many warriors prepared to step up and fight though.
